Clas Palmberg, the owner of family-run gas company Oy Woikoski Ab, will take over as the company’s managing director on 1 April 2016, when its current managing director, Kalevi Korjala, retires. Palmberg will also continue to serve as the chairman of the Woikoski Board of Directors.
He was at the helm of the company also from 1977 to 2012, after which Korjala became the first managing director to be appointed from outside the family. In 1968, Palmberg began his career with Geigy AG in Switzerland, after which he worked for Nokia, first in Helsinki in 1969–1973 and then in Stockholm in 1973–1974. Then, from 1974 to 1975, he served as a consultant for Woikoski in Sweden and Greece. He was appointed as Woikoski’s managing director in 1977 and became Chairman of the Board in 2003.
