Ar-He as welding gas
Ar-He acts as an inert shielding gas for welding. It is particularly suitable for MIG and TIG welding of aluminium and other heat conductive metals (such as copper and magnesium). As the mixture does not contain any active components, it does not chemically influence the welding process, but its effect is based purely on its physical properties.

The addition of helium to argon increases the arc energy, allowing higher welding speeds and better penetration. Welds become more fusible and deformation is reduced. This makes Ar-He alloy an excellent shielding gas for demanding welding applications where precise control and high quality are required.

In addition, helium can reduce the formation of ozone around the arc, improving the working environment and the safety of the welder. As helium is a lighter gas than air, protection must be ensured by adequate gas flow. In the accelerated welding process, special attention must be paid to gas shielding, especially in small gas enclosures.

Ar-He therefore offers an efficient and safe alternative to welding, combining the good arc stability of argon with the high thermal power of helium to achieve a high quality result.

Risk of suffocation
An increase in the concentration of Ar-He in the breathing air poses a risk of suffocation. Asphyxiation occurs unnoticed and can lead to death.

First aid
The person suffering from oxygen deficiency must be immediately moved to fresh air. If the victim is having difficulty breathing or is not breathing, administer artificial respiration as quickly as possible and call for help. When rescuing a victim, it is important to remember not to enter an oxygen-deprived area without breathing equipment.
