Awolight is a mixture of argon, helium and oxygen that acts as an active shielding gas, especially in MIG, MAG and TIG welding. It is suitable for demanding welding applications where arc stability, high thermal power and efficient penetration are required. Awolight is specifically designed for MAG welding of high alloyed austenitic and non-austenitic steels, aluminium and copper.

– Argon stabilises the arc and protects the melt surface from impurities.

– Helium increases the heat of the arc, allowing higher welding speeds, deeper penetration, better molten fluidity and less deformation.

– Oxygen in low concentrations enhances metal melting and weld wetting and prevents harmful carbonisation in low and high carbon stainless and acid steels.

The use of Awolight can slightly increase the formation of surface oxides, but the low oxygen content keeps it under control. Due to the lightness of helium, the shielding gas flow must be increased to maintain adequate shielding. In addition, with increasing welding speeds, it is important to ensure adequate gas shielding, especially for small gas bubbles.

Risk of suffocation
An increase in the concentration of Awolight in the air you breathe poses a risk of suffocation. Asphyxiation occurs unnoticed and can lead to death.

First aid
The person suffering from oxygen deficiency should be immediately moved to fresh air. If the victim is having difficulty breathing or is not breathing, administer artificial respiration as quickly as possible and call for help. When rescuing a victim, it is important to remember not to enter an oxygen-deprived area without breathing equipment.

Use of a gas cylinder
– Follow the instructions and safe working practices when handling the substance
– The gas handler must be properly trained
– Use only pressure regulators and other operating equipment that have been carefully checked and are suitable for this gas. If in doubt, contact Woikoske.
– Open the valve slowly to avoid pressure shock
– The valve is opened and closed by hand. The use of assistive devices is prohibited!
– It takes about one turn to open the bottle.
– The cylinder in use must be properly secured.
– Keep the valve outlets clean!
– Close the cylinder valve after each use and when the cylinder is empty.
– Always report damaged valves and cylinders to Woikoske.

Transport of gas cylinders
– The driver must be aware of the potential dangers of the load and know his duties in the event of accidents and incidents.
– Seek to transport in vehicles where the load compartment is isolated from the cab
– Avoid transporting cylinders in an upright position
– The load must be secured
– Cylinders must not be knocked, thrown or dropped from the vehicle platform
– Attention to ADR regulations during transport

Storage of gas cylinders
– Observe all legal and local requirements for the storage of cylinders
– Store cylinders in a well-ventilated area
– Cylinders should not be stored in conditions that promote corrosion
– Cylinders are stored upright and secured so that they cannot fall over
– Valve guards must be in place AT ALL TIMES
– Empty and full cylinders to be kept separate
