Cromarod 316L is a rutile-coated AC and DC electrode for welding low-carbon molybdenum alloyed AISI 316L-type stainless steels. It offers excellent weldability, low spatter and exceptional flame appearance. The welds are smooth and slightly concave, the edges of the flame merge smoothly with the base material and the slag is self-transmitting.
The beam can be welded in all positions up to a beam thickness of 3,25 mm. Cromarod 316L is also suitable for welding standard AISI 316-type acid-resistant steels and similar niobium- and titanium-stabilised grades at operating temperatures below 400°C. For operating temperatures above 400°C, Cromarod 318 rods are recommended for 316 grades.
