SK-12

SK-12

SK-12 is a blend gas of argon and 12% carbon dioxide that offers a good combination of penetration and arc stability for MAG welding. The inertness of argon ensures a controlled welding process, while the higher concentration of carbon dioxide improves melt control and penetration, especially when welding non-alloyed and low alloy steels. SK-12 is well suited for thin and medium gauge plates and its use reduces spatter and slag, thus improving weld quality and reducing the need for post-weld treatment.

SK-12 is a mixed gas consisting of 88% argon and 12% carbon dioxide. It is a colourless, odourless, tasteless and non-toxic gas that does not sustain combustion. SK-12 is a suffocating gas and, being heavier than air, can accumulate in low-lying areas, requiring adequate ventilation when the gas is used.
