Introducing – Woikoski reseller

The Woikoski reseller Puutavaraliike T. Vainio Oy, run by Riku Vainio, is located a stone’s throw from Woikoski’s Järvenpää branch. Riku himself is an entrepreneur and chairman of the board, while his aunt Raija Lindqvist is the managing director.

Riku’s grandfather founded a family business focused on the log trade back in 1949, so Riku has a long history of entrepreneurship, as does Woikoski. Since then, the business has expanded into planing and even building supplies.

The company’s biggest growth spurt took place in the spring of 2023, when it expanded its operations to Nurmijärvi and Hyvinkää in addition to Järvenpää. The Järvenpää store expanded its product repertoire to include interior design products in spring 2025.

Woikoski’s gas business came into the picture a couple of years ago with the Nurmijärvi store, followed by Järvenpää and finally Hyvinkää. Woikoske’s gas products include industrial gases and liquid gases. We are also thinking of expanding into Woikoske’s intermediary products, such as welding consumables.

Riku appreciates Woikoski’s domesticity, long-term family entrepreneurship and high-quality products. Good cooperation with Woikoski’s regional retailers helps him in his everyday life.

The timber store has a wide customer base. The customer register includes municipalities and cities, as well as private customers and construction companies. Industry and wholesalers are also increasingly interested in the business.

Working with your hands in the clay is part of being an entrepreneur. “There is no such thing as a normal day, because every day is different. You open the shop, you do paperwork, you unload loads. There’s at least enough to do on the phone and email, while you’re also planning purchases and sales for other branches,” says Riku. Especially during the high season between Easter and October, the days can get longer. After that busy period, it’s good to take it easy in mid-winter.

Hard work requires relaxed fun. In his free time, Riku spends time with his two children and wife. You have to take care of your fitness – by walking your dog Hugo, working out in the gym and mountain biking.

“Woikoski’s products have also attracted new customers. It’s easy to get gas when you can get a big four-wheeler into the yard,” Riku sums up.
