Dry ice

Dry ice is also known as carbonic acid ice and carbon dioxide ice. Dry ice is used for applications such as dry ice blasting and cooling of foodstuffs and metals.

Manufacture and sale of dry ice

Woikoski produces dry ice at its carbon dioxide plant in Kokkola, from where it is delivered to the whole of Finland. Woikoski produces dry ice for industry and the food industry in accordance with the FSSC 22000 food certification.

The dry ice is sold in granules or chunks. Pack sizes are 10-360 kg in granules and 15-500 kg in chunks. Dry ice is supplied in disposable styrofoam containers (10 kg granules/15 kg chunks), larger quantities are supplied in rental boxes.

Due to its characteristics, the product evaporates 5-10 % of its weight/day.

Dry ice is extremely cold ice with a temperature of -78.5ºC. It is made from liquid carbon dioxide, which is solidified into snow and compressed into dry ice. Dry ice is odourless, tasteless, non-toxic and non-flammable. When it melts, it does not turn into a liquid but evaporates directly into a gas – a phenomenon known as sublimation.

Read the safety data sheet carefully before handling the product.
