Woikoski supplies quality gases for Olvi’s needs

Customer experience

Olvi is the only brewery to have survived as an independent Finnish brewery. The group’s headquarters and production plant are located in Iisalmi. Woikoski supplies various gases for the needs of the production plant. For example, food grade carbon dioxide is supplied directly to the production plant’s tank via remote monitoring.

Olvi has been producing drinks since 1878 in Iisalmi, in the middle of beautiful Lake Finland. In addition to Finland, Olvi currently also operates locally in Belarus and the Baltic countries.

– Every drink uses either carbon dioxide or some other gas as a propellant or preservative gas, says Ossi Heikkinen, Olvi’s Purchasing Manager.

The tank is automatically filled by remote monitoring

Woikoski’s delivery truck visits the yard of Olvi’s production plant in Iisalmi on average two or three times every week. The need to fill the carbon dioxide tank is monitored remotely within the limits set by Woikoski.

– The limit values are used to know when the tank needs to be filled. Woikoski fills the tank automatically, says Heikkinen.

– We also order so-called bar bottles from Woikoski. We order 10 kg and 20 kg cylinders, which come to us filled and which we then deliver to our customers, Heikkinen continues.

High quality carbon dioxide

Purity standards for food gases, such as food carbon dioxide, are strict. According to Heikkinen, the carbon dioxide supplied by Woikoski is of very high quality.

– We have always had a requirement that the carbon dioxide we use must be of very high quality, Heikkinen says.

Flexible and easy cooperation

The best thing about working with Woikoski, according to Heikkinen, has been its ease and flexibility. The contact persons are also easy to approach.

– It is not difficult to ask, comment and say. You have the courage to say it if you disagree with something. That’s how things always develop further, if necessary, Heikkinen sums up.
